Issue 32: August 2026 (print edition released gratis 7/15)

AN INVASIVE ISSUE

It’s not a matter of setting boundaries…

Lots of people talk about the importance of setting boundaries. It’s part of healthy self-care. But setting boundaries isn’t always easy and sometimes others don’t respect them no matter how clear you are about setting them. Sometimes boundaries are invaded and we are called upon to defend ourselves. This is never a comfortable situation. When others are invasive into our personal and private space it can lead to feelings of violation, disrespect, anger, and fear. It can threaten our safety, way of life and livelihood.

In this issue we’ll explore: the implications of the introduction of Algerian Ivy into the California landscape and it’s effects on individual properties and the greater environment pg.10, 2 installments of Diorama Madness Comic strip (dealing with the issues of invasive animal species, reproductive health, climate change and international bickering for control of the Arctic) pg.18, insect infestation of California Oak trees pg.15, and grant money offered by CAL Fire for property management pg.10. There’s also another installment of Card of the Month featuring cards from the new deck I made pg.14, a review of Los Gallos taqueria in Scotts Valley pg.37, an original recipe for vanilla-seeded scones pg.7, an article about making carved ceramic bowls pg.12 and the next two chapters of Brave Enough pg.25. In Brave Enough, Lettie sets a firm boundary with Phil as he tries to win back her love while she begins to lower her boundaries with young body guard, Dennis. I also call to your attention the requirements for those who wish to become a 1UV affiliated member gallery pg.42, and changes in public hours and tour package options pg. 6
